Context
Built and extended an industrial B2B platform in which products, specification-level parts, manufacturers, sellers, quotations and orders share one workflow. Work includes a YoungCart 4-to-5 migration and subsequent operational improvements.
Problem
A single product record cannot express the full parts catalog. Sellers need bulk editing within their own inventory, while quotations and orders need distinct business states.
Decisions
Separate products from specification-level parts
Connected parts and specifications to products, manufacturers and catalogs. Added three-level category selection and code/name autocomplete for sellers.
Make multi-product CSV an operational tool
Use product codes and part IDs to distinguish inserts from updates. Check seller ownership, skip unauthorized products and report inserted, updated and skipped records.
Connect quotation approval to order creation
Keep quotation handling distinct and route conversion into the existing order creation flow. Adapt quotation printing for long parts tables.
